Jimmy O’Dea was one of Ireland’s most beloved comedians who toured the country and starred in Dublins top theatres from the 1930’s to the 1960’s.   His most famous character was “Biddy Mulligan, the Pride of the Coombe”.   He starred in a number of films in Britain from 1935 to 1939.   In 1959 he went to Hollywood to make Walt Disney’s “Darby O’Gill and the Little People” with Janet Munro and Sean Connery.   O’Dea played King Brian, king of the little people.   It is his best remembered film role.   Jimmy O’Dea died in Dublin in 1965.   Article on RTE Website can be accessed here.
